Payment Counter & Operating Hour

Kindly make your payment or acknowledge your bill (for cases under insurance and guarantee letter) at the payment counter at the first floor or respective floors. Upon settling the bill, a discharge slip will be given to you. Please hand over the discharge slip to the nurse at the Nurses Counter and collect your medications, x-ray films, appointment card, M.C. and etc.

Walk-in Registration

The admission counter is located at the ground floor in front of the pharma healthcare shop. During registration for admission, you will be requested to present your identity card/passport or any other legal documents for registration purpose. For children under 12 years old, parents or guardian's identity is required for registration. Upon completion of registration, you will be requested to check and verify your particulars on the printed Admission Registration form. For return patient, you are advised to update your particulars and contact information during registration.

Our Admission office is located at the Lobby, ground floor. Appointments for admission are made during your visit to the consultant's clinic. Planned admission can be made through Admission counter at the Lobby from 8.00am till 6.00pm. Emergency admissions are made through the A&E Service at ground floor. Admissions made after office hours (after 6.00pm), during weekend, and on public holidays will be handled at the A&E Service.

Patient Rights and Responsibilities

We strive to care for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our patients with respect and dignity. Upon admission you will be given a brochure that explains on Patient Family Rights & Responsibilities in more detail. Pre-Surgery Admission

You are required to sign a consent form before any surgery. For children under 18 years old, parents or guardians are required to sign the consent form for their children. Your consultant and the nurses will advise you on details regarding your preparation for surgery.

During Your Stay

Our nursing staffs will orientate you to the ward and all other facilities available in your room. You will be given an identification wristband upon your admission. Please do not remove the band during your stay in the hospital. It helps to provide positive identification of you to all who serve you and is a safeguard for our protection.

Belongings/Valuables

You are advised to keep only a few personal items such as toiletries, a bathrobe, slippers and sleepwear in your room. The hospital does not assume responsibility for valuables including medications. You are advised to send the valuable home as soon as possible. If that is not immediately possible, valuables may be kept temporarily in the hospital safe until someone can take them home for you.

Nurse Call System

Each bedside is provided with a call button that allows you to call for attention at any time. These buttons are also located in the toilets and bathrooms. Should you need any assistance please push the call button.

Meal Services

If you are under therapeutic diet, our Dietary service will ensure your nutritional requirements are met in accordance with your physician's orders. If you need advice on meal selection or have a question concerning your diet, you may request for Dietetic service. Our Dietitian will pay you a visit.

Standard meals are served as follows:

Dinner 6.30pm - 7.30pm


Staff identification

Staff members will introduce themselves to you. They all wear complete uniforms with a nametag with their designation spelled.

Infection Control

Infection control is an essential part of quality health care. KPJ SSH has appropriate infection control practices in place to minimize infections. Patients and visitors are advised to practice hand hygiene at all times. Hands should be cleaned before and after visiting patients. Alcohol hand rub is conveniently located throughout the hospital for the use of staff, patients and visitors.

Telephones

This facility is only available in single rooms. To call for internal services, please refer to the hospital telephone directory for extension numbers or press "0" for operator's assistance. To make external calls, please press "0" for operator's assistance. Charges for your external calls will be reflected in your hospital bill. Public telephones are available at the ground floor, near to the A&E service. Hand (Mobile) phones are not permitted within the hospital premises as they may interfere with the high frequency electronic equipment used.

Television

Each patient room is equipped with a television. If you encounter problem with the television, please contact our Maintenance & Engineering Service at ext. 1601 or 1602

Newspaper

A choice of one complimentary newspaper is provided only to all single room occupants.

Smoking Policy

Our hospital observes a strict "NO SMOKING" code of practice within our premises following the Ministry of Health regulations.

Discharge from Hospital

You will be discharged upon your consultant's advice. Your final bill will be processed as soon as we receive the discharge order from your consultant.

For personal case (cash payer), your bill will be ready approximately one hour from the discharge time ordered by your doctor. If you are under hospitalization insurance, the entire verification and bill processes may take approximately two to three hours depending on the confirmation from the insurers. You will be informed when your bill is ready. You may be asked to pay subsistence fee, if applicable at the time of your discharge. If there are items found to be broken or missing upon your discharge, they will be charged to your bill accordingly.

Check out time is 12.00pm. Discharges from 3.00pm - 6.00pm, an additional half day room charge will be incurred. Discharges after 6.00pm will be charged as a full day's rate.

Take home medication & follow up appointment

Medication will be given to you in the ward before you leave. Your follow up appointment (if applicable) with the consultant will also be made prior to your discharge.

Late Charges

Generally, the bill prescribed at discharge will be the final bill. Occasionally however, late charges for items used on the day of discharge may not be included. If this is the case, the hospital will post a final bill indicating the balance on the account.

Refund of Excess Deposit

Amounts received in excess of the total bill will be refunded depending on the initial payment mode. Refunds made via credit cards will be settled within 7 working days. However, cash refunds amounting to more than RM 500 will be done via cheque, within 14 working days.

Update of Hospital Bill and Insurance Claims

If you have a long stay in the hospital, we will update you or your family on your hospital bill's status periodically. If you are under GL or insurance scheme, our staff will file claims for you with your healthcare insurers or other programs. If you have queries on insurance claims, please contact our credit control personnel at 06 767 1273 (during office hour) or Billing Services at 06 767 7800 ext 1539

Payment Counter

After Hospital Stay

Post-surgery care is a significant measure to take for your full recovery. We provide the following services to aid you to adapt to your normal lifestyle or a better lifestyle.

Home Nursing Service

This service is available to patients who have been recently discharged for personalized care in the comfort of their home. We help you to manage your recovery and also provide care for mother and babies. For further information, please call 013 307 2750 or 019 600 2692.

Information for Visitors


Vehicle Parking

The hospital provides both open and covered parking area within the hospital compound. You may obtain an inpatient parking coupon from RELA's on duty and stamp your parking ticket at the Information Counter and clinic which you have visited. You are advised to ensure that no valuable items such as laptops and cash are left in your car. The hospital shall not be responsible for any loss or damages to your property while in our premises.

Visiting hours

In our continuing effort to provide quality care, KPJ-SSH adopted a flexible visitation policy throughout the facility. We welcome your families, friends, and loved ones to visit you during your stay in the hospital. However, for the safety reason, access to the hospital may also be limited during certain hours. Please kindly ask your visitors to observe and adhere to the following visiting hours and regulations:

General ward & Maternity ward

Children under 12 years old are discouraged to visit patients. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. No visitors are allowed after 10:00pm. We encourage visitors to be mindful of patient's need for proper rest.

Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Children 12 years and under are not permitted in both Intensive Care and Coronary Care units. Only two visitors per patient are allowed to visit at a time.

Security personnel and nursing staff members may restrict visiting hours at any time when it is deemed necessary to preserve the welfare of any patient. This is necessary to guarantee that our patients get uninterrupted rest.

Security Access Door

All entrance to the wards is secured via a Security Access Door. Kindly press the bell when you wish to enter the ward.

Smoking

Overnight stay

As one of our infection control measures, we do not encourage family members staying overnight with patient unless patient is very ill. Immediate family members who wish to stay overnight may request for a lodger bed to be placed in the patient's room. However, this facility is available only in Single Rooms and is chargeable upon request. Please inquire the staff nurse on duty should you need assistance.

Welcome to KPJ Seremban Specialist Hospital where your room is a place we expect you to receive extraordinary care. If, during your stay, you have any questions or concerns about anything in your room, please do not hesitate to ask anyone on your healthcare team for assistance.

Thermostat:

Every room has its own thermostat located on one of the room's walls. To adjust the temperature, turn the dial at bottom to adjust while watching the numbers. Higher numbers mean hotter. Lower numbers mean cooler. Please adjust the room to your comfort level and feel free to ask for assistance when needed.

Television.

There are two ways to turn on your television: Your remote control and your call bell box. To use your remote control, push the red power button on the bottom. To change the channels and the volume control, press the arrows. Please ask for assistance if you cannot locate your television remote.

You may also operate your television via your call bell box. Push the on/off button to power your television and the up and down arrows for the channels. Please note, the volume should only be adjusted by using the remote control and not by using the controls directly on your television.

- Press the "Pause" button to temporarily stop the movie.

Fast Forward Button
- Press the " Fast Forward" button to rapidly advance to the next scene (s) of the selected movie

Volume Button
- Press the (V+) or (V-) button to adjust the sound volume of the TV set

Channel Button
- Press the (CH+) or (CH-) to go to the desired TV Channel.

OK Button
- Press the "OK" button to select the highlighted option in a menu and perform the function

Nurse Call
Your call bell should be within your reach at all times. Remind your caregiver and visitors to always place the call bell box where you can reach it. Call bell boxes keep your in touch with us and enable our team to assist you by your simple push on the button

Always feel free to ask your caregiver for assistance while they are in your room. If you require assistant when a caregiver is not in your room, you may use either your call bell box by pushing the red "nurse hat" button or you may used the nurse call button located on the side of your bed. Feel free to ask your nurse to show you where these call buttons are located, should you need them. If your request has not been meet within 15 minutes, do not hesitate to press the call button again. We want to be sure your needs are met.

Lighting
There are many types of light in your room. This is to help your health care providers to clearly see you and for you to see them. It is for this reason that we keep a small light on in your room. Your nurse or assistant will try to find the best lighting so you can be safe while you rest. You may push the picture of the light bulb on your call bell box to turn on the light at the head of your head.

Sofa/Chairs
The Sofa/chairs in your room should not move and should remain locked in place. Please call for assistance if you notice that your sofa /chairs is not locked in place. Do not attempt to get in or out of the sofa/chairs that is not locked.

Window
Please ask your health care team member to adjust the window shades to your comfort.

Pharmacy

Pharmacy Services is located at the ground floor next to Diagnostic Imaging and A&E Services.

The pharmacy is operating 24 hours a day. Operation for outpatient pharmacy begins at 8.30am until all prescriptions have been cleared for the day. Inpatient pharmacy shares the same pharmacy with the outpatient pharmacy where medications are prepared and dispensed internally. From 9.00pm - 7:00am, outpatient and discharge prescriptions will be dispensed from outpatient pharmacy.

Valid prescriptions; complete with patient's name, MRN or I/C, date and authorized in signature & name/stamp by KPJ Seremban's Consultants or Medical Officers will be honoured. Patients with outside prescriptions (taken outside KPJ Seremban) shall consult with our doctors at A&E Services to have the prescription rewritten on internal prescription slip and will be given medications according to the prescription. All outside prescriptions will be honored in the exception of psychotropic drugs; in which further consultation with the Consultants or Medical Officers is required for valid prescription. It is our utmost concern for medication safety that injections (except subcutaneous injection) are dispensed only for internal administration by our doctors or nurses.

MISCELLANEOUS

Medical Records

A patient or his/her legal representative may have a copy of his/her medical records. With authorization from the patient, his/her copy of medical records will be sent to another facility. Seremban Specialist Hospital requires a complete signed consent form for authorization to release medical information to another party.

Security for Your Belongings

During your stay with us, it is advisable not to bring or keep valuables. You are advised to send your valuables home with a family member. If that is not immediately possible, valuables may be kept temporarily in the hospital safe until someone can take them home for you. The hospital will not be responsible for any loss of valuables such as cash, jewelry, mobile phone, or damage to your personal items while in our premises.
